Couples Therapy
For Relationship, Communication & Attachment Issues
“Why does this feel so difficult?”
“Shouldn’t it feel easy?” Love is natural… and that’s the easy part. But heathy relationships? They require hard work and effort.
Couples therapy isn’t about who’s “right.” It’s about supporting your relationship as a team. It’s about uncovering your communication and attachment patterns so that you can make meaning of each other’s reactions. When you truly understand your partner’s behavior, you can respond with compassion and respect.
Couples often find themselves in repetitive patterns or cycles of conflict. It can feel like you’re having the same fight over and over, which is confusing and exhausting.
In couples therapy, we slow the cycle down so we can examine and understand it. From there, we work to shift the dynamic so you can move from reactivity and misunderstanding toward steadier connection and repair.
During our sessions, we’ll track your unique patterns step-by-step. Together, we’ll learn what each partner truly means to say, what they’re afraid of or really asking for.
We work to shift moments of reactivity into understanding, helping each of you feel more emotionally seen. When you feel safe, you’ll be better able to let you guard down.
The goal is a more stable, honest, secure and compassionate relationship pattern.

Most couples work with me for 8–12 sessions, depending on their goals and the complexity of their concerns. Some see meaningful improvement in just a few sessions, while others choose to continue longer for deeper work. We’ll decide together what timeline fits your needs.
-
We’ll meet virtually for every session. You can join from the comfort of your home or another private space where you feel at ease.
All sessions take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You can join from anywhere in NC or MS.

I work with adult couples who are married, dating, or engaged. Some are preparing for marriage, some are unsure where they stand, and others are on the brink of separation and looking for clarity.
Therapy works best when both partners are willing to show up and do the work, and I support couples who are ready to make meaningful changes together.
Couples of all genders and sexual identities are welcome. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ clients and strive to create a safe, affirming space for everyone.
I currently work only with couples residing in NC & MS. (Check back early 2026 if you live elsewhere and are interested in working with me!)

Couples therapy isn’t effective or appropriate in every situation. In the cases below, I generally recommend individual therapy and/or a psychiatric evaluation instead:
Serious, unmanaged mental health concerns (including thoughts of harming yourself or others)
Ongoing substance use that isn’t in treatment
One-directional abuse or violence
Couples therapy relies on honesty and openness. Although some guardedness is common, if either partner is unwilling to be transparent in the process, progress becomes very limited.

I do not currently accept insurance for couples counseling.
