Recovery After Infidelity or Betrayal

Rebuilding trust? It feels impossible... I hear you. When trust has been broken, it can feel like the ground beneath you disappeared overnight. You may wake up wondering how something that once felt safe now feels so uncertain.

After infidelity or betrayal, everything changes.

  • The partner who was hurt may feel consumed by questions, doubt, and a need for reassurance. They may replay conversations, check details, or feel waves of anger and sadness that seem to come out of nowhere.

  • The partner who betrayed may feel deep shame, defensiveness, or frustration that nothing they do seems to make it better. They may want to move forward, but feel constantly pulled back into the pain of what happened.

One of you is trying to make sense of the damage. The other may be trying to survive the guilt and fear of losing everything. The more one of you asks for answers, the more the other may shut down. The more one withdraws in shame or overwhelm, the more the other panics.

It’s not just about what happened. It’s about broken trust, loss of your sense of reality and a nervous system that no longer feels safe.

Rebuilding after betrayal is possible, but it does not happen through minimizing, rushing, or pretending it did not hurt that much. It happens through honesty, accountability, and learning how to sit together in the discomfort instead of running from it.

I help couples slow this process down in a way that feels steady and contained. We focus on understanding what led here without excusing it. We work on rebuilding transparency and safety, while also making space for the hurt partner’s pain and the betraying partner’s remorse.

If both of you are willing, healing is possible. You can rebuild something strong and honest, even if it looks different than what you had before.
